Struggling with Family Issues and Trauma

my sister and I had a long conversation about life and she helped me realize that I'm sheltered and I was rarely at my dads parents because of a possible grudge, but the possible grudge got worse after my grandparents died,I could never hang out with friends unless they came over and I asked my mom first, its still that way even if I want to go out with a friend. I need a therapist to talk to but my moms family doesn't talk about their issues so my mom doesn't like that subject. my neurolgyst suggested family counseling and we haven't done that yet, I have some possible trauma from when I was a child and being in and out of the hospital and possibly the thing that happened at 13 days.
