its frustrating this health forum cant even be a safe space. Im recovered from suicial ideation but not far enough removed to be fine seeing it the moment i open up my phone in the morning bc someone was trauma dumping here with no tw. Ive had to remove depression from my profile before and i might have to do it again, but its a real part of my journey and something i struggle with.

Same!! Like I’m glad people have somewhere to talk about their struggles with depression but I really don’t want to get a notification about a detailed event. Maybe staff should make a word filter setting? Where folks not okay with seeing stuff like that can set up something to exclude posts?

i wish people with depression could be more understanding of other people with it. i know not everyone with depression is that way, but online and in my own personal experiences, ive found that a lot of mentally ill people in general will just traumadump with no tw. it can be so triggering and at the least upsetting. i have struggled with depression and the things that can come along with it for a long time. im talking since young childhood. and to see people with it being so uncaring and disrespectful and disregarding towards others with it and everyone else? its deeply upsetting. i think a lot of us who have had it for a long time, its often brought into effect by the things/people around us. and people who act like this, are a part of that category. im very sorry you see this, especially in whats supposed to be a safe place. im sorry that you feel that you cant show and share a real part of your journey because of these people. if you need someone to be a safe talking space for you, i will try my best to be available to message.

That's a good idea honestly. I never thought about this, I don't get triggered easily but I can understand others and seeing this will help me be more mindful if I should ever post something like that in my low moments. But the app should implement a word filter. That would be extremely useful for a lot of things, especially keeping members safe. Hopefully staff takes notice and implements that feature in the future.

Honestly, I suggest the app Vent. People are way more courteous of trigger warnings there then they are here
I'll pass you guys' suggestions on to the mods. It is a good idea to have something like a spoiler where that kind of talk is blurred out or something. I've also thought about removing depression from my profile. That kind of talk is not helping me to heal and it can be very triggering.

Yeah this app really needs a word filter
This is why I never open notifications, when I see them on the feed, I don't really get triggered as much
@Ethan_Higginbotham yeah i might have to start doing that. Similarly im not bothered when im on the feed, or in most other contexts, but but something straight out of my internal dialouge at rock bottom smack dab in the notification was just a bit too much. Tbh made me understand the value of just putting TW at the beginning of a post.
I've noticed this as well. It's very triggering to wake up with notifications about someone posting and you open it and are hit with people debating unaliving themselves. I wish this app had a setting to uncover harmful content sort of like discord does. Where you have to choose to engage
