I want to look nice for Easter so I'm wearing makeup, a dress and some platform wedges. It's cute but I just feel so dysphoric. I usually dress masculine but lately I've been trying to wear more feminine things. It's not working for me. I don't feel attractive and I can't help but to feel dysphoric. I want to dress nice but this is the only way I know how to. Idk what to do.

I understand where you're coming from. It's incredibly rare for me to feel comfortable or attractive when I'm wearing "girly" clothes. I've found that wearing masculine clothes and making it fancy with accessories and some make up is a good compromise between how I want to dress and how society expects me to look. I actually wore a full pant suit for brothers wedding but it was a females so tailored differently then did my hair and accessorise really fancy.

Hi ZB. I am not sure what dysphoric means. But i also alternate between men and womens clothes so maybe i experience dysphoria but dont know it. Mens clothes are more comfortable cos they arent tight and looking for unwanted attention. But girls clothes are fun. I wear boy clothes when i dont want attention and only usually wear girl clothes when i see my boyfriend or if im going out some place nice which is never. I think my family thinks im nuts cos i cant choose what style clothes i want to dress like man or woman lol. Oh well they never have said anything lmao. Idk if this helps but just thought id share. I think being 10 years older i might not be as aware regarding words like dysphoria or lgbtq things like masculines and feminines. I just do what ive always done never thought too much about it. Be happy to see what you think. Good luck šŸ’•

@funey Dysphoria for me is just feeling disconnected from my gender expression. I wear masculine clothes when I feel more masculine and feminine clothes when I feel more feminine. A lot of the time I mix the two because that's what I feel. When I have a big event to go to in public, I tend to dress femininely because that's how I was taught to and the only way I know how to dress nicely but that's where dysphoria comes in. It works if I'm feeling feminine but if I'm not, it just feels like I'm wearing a clown costume. It feels fake and uncomfortable. It doesn't feel authentic to what I'm feeling inside.

How about blazers? Or a button up, collared shirt w a cool print? I think those can look super sharp and attractive regardless of gender while still being comfy. And then you can use your hair/ makeup/ shoes to add a touch of femininity or masculinity, depending on how you feel that day. šŸ˜€

@WickedJ Thank you, I already changed. I kept the makeup but put on some pants and a button up with a shirt underneath. It's way more comfortable but less nice. I'd say its a win

Do you have nicer masculine clothes you could wear that might be more comfortable? If not then donā€™t stress it, definitely do what makes you more comfortable even if that means less ā€œniceā€ stuff like less makeup. You should feel valid in your gender expression even if itā€™s Easter!

@Del97 Thank you, I already changed into some better clothes, they're not as nice as I'd like but they're way more comfy.
