[TW!!! talk of gorey thoughts and self harm] I'm having really disturbing intrusive thoughts .. I've had them for years but they're getting more frequent and disturbing... usually gorey things I'd never ever want to do like biting my cat's face off :( I want these images to go away.. I'd never hurt my cat ever and I had one of biting my mom's eye ... it's scary and I want it to stop ... I'll also have them of cutting myself.. sometimes I have thoughts of that for other reasons but I don't go through with it and it gives me a weird feeling in my arms like I feel weak and scared... before when these started it would only be about hurting myself such as stabbing myself in the eye with a straw.. but now it's about others too and I'm scared .. I don't ever want to hurt anyone and I don't think I ever will but I don't want to see these things either ... I'm not diagnosed with OCD but I'm wondering if I should see a therapist about these symptoms.. I do have autism and tourettes so it's likely I may have it aswell.. but it will be awhile since my last therapist dropped my case

I completely understand what you're going through! I think they're called intrusive thoughts. I have them all the time and at first they were extremely debilitating and induced a lot of anxiety. So i can understand your pain. Did you ever see a Doctor for this?

That sounds similar to obsessive intrusive thoughts with my OCD. They can get violent and weird and it is very distressing. Sometimes I even shock myself with some of the things my brain comes up with. Talking to someone may help. Then again, I can’t promise that. I have had the same therapist for 16 years and i trust her wholly and I have never told her anything about them for fear of judgement or embarrassment. Even though I know she wouldn’t judge me or make me feel embarrassed, the fear is there. And the thoughts are awful and intense.I know this probably doesn’t help. But you are not alone.

@ae_belli the problem is I don't have a therapist at the moment and my last one didn't help at all and then dropped my case

Intrusive thoughts can be related to various mental health conditions, including OCD and PTSD. They can be distressing and disturbing, but it's important to remember that they don't hold any meaning and you're not a bad person for having them. It is recommended to talk to a therapist about these symptoms. Therapists are well trained about intrusive thoughts and they know how to handle them.
