Anyone else have a hard time pushing away intrusive thoughts, and they become so consuming that you’re scared that it’s actually how you feel? I get this dark cloud feeling all over some nights and get intrusive thoughts saying that it’s the end. that is so scary and it makes it so I can’t eat and I just want to sleep and hide. i’m working on writing down how I feel and thinking to myself that my thoughts are not me. but sometimes it’s so consuming that my mind tries to convince me that it’s reality and it’s what I want. i do see my therapist weekly but im scared to bring it up, because these aren’t things that I want to do, and that’s why they get so stuck in my head and become debilitating and i want to be understood correctly. just looking for some comfort or tips or someone to talk to I guess ❤️

Something my therapist has helped me realize is that everyone has intrusive thoughts and excepting them as just "thoughts" if you don't want them there then they are not "you" and fighting with them will only make it worse and more persistent. I have have learned to treat my thoughts as just a part of my brain being a jerk. And when I thought comes about I except it's existence. I don't know if that is helpful for you but it has definely helped me. I would maybe speak with your therapist (trust me they have heard it all" night time is also they most common time to have intrusive thoughts and panic attacks do you're definitely not alone.

@spacequeen thank you so much!! when I am in a good head space, im able to talk myself out of the intrusive thoughts a lot easier. I try to think of my intrusive thoughts as spam emails, and I visualize putting them into the trash folder. I really appreciate your message :-)
