Is your spouse and/or family supportive and empathize with your disability? Mine say they get it but they ask too much of me anyway.

I've found sometimes the people who say they get it really don't. They don't realize they're asking too much because they are still viewing you as an abled person either consciously or not. My family says they get it, but they don't truly get the severity of it all because it's such a foreign concept and different from their own lived experiences

They get it but they really don't. Give them time. It's taken me almost 10 years to get my husband and kids trained to understand that "I can't do all that" is exactly what is says, not just a lazy excuse. Lots of crying, ER visits, talks, fights, and so on and so forth. Be semi gentle with them. Don't use the Mac truck yet, it takes time to believe, see and truly understand. 5 years of trying - use a convoy of Mac trucks!!!πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…πŸ˜πŸ˜‡

My fiance is the same way, she said she understands but ask me to do the world on my worst days. Like i can be in bed on the floor in pain and she will still ask me to get up and do something. Like she can't see im crying in the bed rocking.

My family is exactly like that. It bothers me a lot that after all the work I have to do to manage my fibro and survive with an invisible chronic illness, I'm also called on to do even more for family members (also some friends and colleagues who definitely also don't get it). Like, when do I get to take a break from doing ALL the work?
