I've been severely ill and homebound except for dr appointments since I was 13 (22 now). My dad still thinks I'm lazy and would recover right away if I only wanted to šŸ™„šŸ¤¬

My husband doesnā€™t get it though will acknowledge I canā€™t do things like I used to. My kids which include our youngest 4 -adopted are 6,8,12 and 14 all with adhd and varying other emotional needs. Iā€™m reminded by their therapists to make time for myself. Easier said then done. I have explained the spoon theory to them all. Kids get it more then dad, but still forget often that some days Iā€™m just not up to doing anymore then the momtaxi. I hv a sister also eith fibro and one with ms

According to my family Iā€™m ā€œnot sick and just looking for attentionā€ šŸ™„ so I donā€™t ask for anything and interact as little as possible

Yup! I have told my husband I'm going to staple a note to my forehead to remind everyone that I'm hurting and this doesn't stop just because everyone forgot about it. But if I bring it up to him he's very understanding and accommodating. I have a child with behavioral issues and it's really really hard some days. :(

My kids do not sympathize with me at all and my BF says he understands and tries to be supportive but I just donā€™t think anyone really can unless they have FM. I try to explain how Iā€™m feeling and why working would be so hard for me right now but I canā€™t they are set in their ways and will see when they are older. My BF has been trying harder to help me with dinners and laundry as much as he can as well as holding down a FT job, Iā€™m thankful everyday for him.

I wish I could give you some advice but Iā€™m right there with ya. My family claims to understand because theyā€™ve read articles about it online but they have no idea what itā€™s like to live with this diagnosis and get frustrated with me all the time. Hang in there!

I'm fortunate that my family does seem to mostly understand. Part of it is that growing up my mom took me to so many doctors for different problems that didn't seem related at all until a doctor finally diagnosed me with fibro and it all made sense. I try and remind myself that not everyone is gonna understand and thats okay. It does really suck to just kind of 'accept it' but thats about the beat advice I can give you. I'm sorry šŸ˜†
