so; I am legally disabled in my state, and I qualify for a service animal. I'm debating on getting a small breed from a puppy. BUT I am weighing out the pros and cons and I'm having a hard time deciding if I should even go through with it...I've got a almost 2 month old right now, and a 4 year old who doesn't currently live with me. PROS: •my baby daughter will have a best friend to grow up with, and they would be the same age. •it would get me and my daughter out of the house and help my social anxiety and depression. •it REALLY would help my mental state. •i LOVE animals!! I will treat them just like my child. CONS: •the stress of baby and puppy. •finances •puppy teeth • the last couple pets I have had didn't end up so well. the cat I had rescued in an apartment, we had for about a year and she was SO cute! she really did help me. I basically ran away and re-homed her; but she is doing great in her new home, I get updates sometimes. my oldest was loving with us at that time... then I adopted a dog; he was a 5-6 month old Doberman mini Pinscher; super energetic and kept me busy, I adored him! but then while visiting my aunt-inlaw, her mother -inlaw stole him because she is an ass wipe like that. and idk what happened to him, I miss him. no children at that time... recently, while I was pregnant we adopted 2 guinea pigs, but during my second and third trimester I had to stop working because I was in severe pain and almost died, I was even hospitalized on sepsis watch because of gaslighting and medical neglect; I couldn't take care of them and they were very neglected. we tried seeing if anyone would take them but everyone made excuses or didn't have room; so we put them down. I just done seem to have luck with animals...

I understand the need for an animal. I wouldn't go the puppy route because of the hassle. You could always check out your local shelter and see if they have older dogs who need a home. That way you don't have to worry about the puppy stuff and you still get a good buddy for a good while 🤎

I'd wait a few more months before getting a dog. You JUST had a child. Let yourself adjust to the new lifestyle then add more responsibilities.
