Considering a Service Dog for My Visual Impairment and Anxiety

So I am legally blind and I am thinking about getting a service dog. I am mostly blind in my left eye and I can only tell between light and dark. For my right I can read and be on my phone if it is close to my face, but I can't drive or do stuff like that. I have been running into stuff a lot more lately and with depth perception (i have fallen i font know how many times when i think thwre is a step but there isnt and the other way around)I was wondering if I could have a service dog that can help mostly with that, and also maybe with my anxiety because I have bad anxiety spells at times, but I feel guilty for thinking that I could possibly get a service dog to help seeing as there is a lot more people with worse health issues that could use one more than me. Do you think I should look into getting one?

My service dog brings me a lot of independence. You just have to remember that you would be getting a dog which means taking care of a living thing with constant practice to keep up their training. There are still places and situation they aren’t allowed in and people can be real jerks about them but I’d gladly take picking up poop and ignoring rude comments over needing to take someone with me everywhere. Definitely pros and cons but personally way more pros.

If getting a service dog will help improve the quality of your life, most definitely get a dog!
