Has anyone ever told you they’re afraid of being honest with you because they don’t know what’ll trigger you? How do you cope with that?

Thank you, everyone, I really appreciate it - it’s so hard because even I don’t know what could trigger me sometimes, cause my triggers have only recently come to the surface and I’m still trying to figure out what they are. I’ve tried having conversations with them, and it seems a little like talking to a wall… I guess I was more wondering how you cope with the emotions that arise, like the guilt, shame, etc?

@Songbird24 I know what you mean, I don’t even know what a lot of my triggers are either sometimes and they sometimes happen totally random. I also feel guilt and shame about the same thing. When that happens I try to focus on being kind to myself and reminding myself that it’s not my fault and I’m doing the best I can to heal/recover. If anyone in your life decides they can’t be patient with you, then (in my opinion) they’re probably not worth being in your life anyways.

@Songbird24 *with them = with the people, not with my triggers :)

Just try talking, it's their choice on what to say and you shouldn't worry about what they sat. YOU ARE A STRONG INDEPENDENT PERSON!!!!!

Yes. Have you told them what your triggers are so they know they don't have to worry?

My family used to feel like this with me but I opened up to them and they feel like they can approach me now.

      Anyone?

@Songbird24 yes, and it really sucks. I just keep telling them that I’d rather know what’s going on and possibly be triggered, than be in the dark completely.

@greychildvii Also I make it clear what all of my triggers are to them so they feel more comfortable knowing
