TW: death, gun violence Two nights ago, there was a fatal shooting right outside my apartment. My PTSD is from an entirely different situation, but that event has kicked up a lot of symptoms for me. Does anyone else ever feel triggered by something unrelated to your trauma? Also, do you have any tips for how to manage my symptoms? It’s so hard for me to walk through the place where it happened, but I cannot get in and out of my apartment otherwise. It takes me a long time to calm down after passing through, and it’s causing me to be late to work.

It's totally normal to be triggered by things that seem unrelated to your trauma. Sometimes people can get triggered by an event that makes them *feel* a similar kind of stress to the original traumatic event, even if the events look completely different.

@Prismatic thank you for this! That makes a lot of sense.
