TRIGGER WARNING: School shooting I have PTSD because of being in a school shooting and it’s so hard to explain that I have PTSD from a non-war purpose, but also so embarrassing to have panic attacks from fireworks. I feel alone a lot and frustrated.

Your trauma is completely valid and your not alone. Even if it isn’t from a war experience, it’s something that left a really bad scar on you. What you’re feeling should never be put down as something that was an easy to deal with situation. It was scary and really hard. I know it may be hard to feel like your trauma isn’t valid but it is.
What you are feeling is valid. You went through an immense amount of trauma that no one should have to go through. A couple people I was friends with as a kid died in a school shooting and I knew all but 2 of them, including the shooter. Its traumatic, life changing, and scary. You have every right to feel how you do. I get upset at myself with my PTSD from various things, but I realized that it isn't something I have to hide or feel ashamed of. It simply means I was put through an event or events that I should not have had to go through. And im still here carrying on. Sending you support ❤️
I have PTSD from trauma as a kid and being raped in the army by a superior.
trauma includes but is not limited to war experiences. an event that makes you fear for your life, or feel excessive emotions may result in a trauma. there is nothing called "a valid" trauma, because all people feel and process emotions differently. if anyone doesn't recognize your trauma or make fun of it, it means absolutely nothing. you are valid; not because of that event, but because your feelings are your own and nobody has the right to judge them. thankfully, i have never been in a school shooting, and personally, just imagining it is terrifying enough for me. i may not know who you are, but i certainly know that you're absolutely valid.
Ptsd can come from any trauma not just war
