(WARNING PERIOD TALK) So I had a doctor's appointment today. I went there in hopes that they could help me figure out why my periods have become erratical. I often have heavy periods and they are very painful, so painful that my legs tend to give out on me, I feel like someone stabbed my lower area, and I get very light-headed, ready to pass out at any moment. Lately I've been having two periods within a month, now I'm not a health expert but I do know periods are not supposed to be that painful and I'm not supposed to have more than one. So they decided to put me on a birth control, that is a shot, I have to get once every 3 months. They said I might have spotting at first but all in all I should stop having a period and they also warn me about weight gain, but I'm not really concerned about that. However what I am concerned about is it feels like my arm is burning and I can barely move it it hurts. Now don't make fun of me for this one, but I'm 27 they gave me my first ever pap smear as well and it hurt a lot. I've been feeling weird ever since they did it, is that normal?

If you keep experiencing pain definitely look into endometriosis! It’s common and often overlooked. Periods should not hurt that bad! I hope you are able to find some relief

You should ask them for a ultra sound to double check that there isn’t anything wrong. Like ovarian cysts, fibroids, or endometriosis. This sounds very familiar to what was happening to me and I ended up having a fibroid.
Hey hun so period pain and pain during a Pap smear are not normal. I have endometriosis and pelvic floor dysfunction and you sound a lot like me. I have lots and lots of advice and resources that I’m more than happy to share! Feel free to message me any time!
Definitely consider endometriosis if you are experiencing a lot of pain and irregularity! I also get IBS symptoms during my period and that's a sign! PAPs and even sex can hurt when you have endo! I hope you feel better!!
We gotta remember that when they do paps, they actually do take a small piece of the fleshy wall our uteruses build for possible pregnancy. It's not a pleasant thing, and the body is trying to recover and repair it!
@Niz Thanks I honestly didn't know that
@Ally95 no problem honey! The things they SHOULD be teaching in sex ed! Lol I hope it feels better by now!

I hope you find some relief!!! Sending good recovery vibes your way!
@Cinnawut Thanks
I have always had painful periods too, and haven't gone to get my first pap either. So don't feel bad. (24) I did find avoiding tampons and anything that went in during my period kinda helpful. It took down some of the immense pain. But I really hope the shot helps!
@Niz I hope it helps too but right now it's got my arms so stiff and it constantly feels like it's burning lol
@Ally95 I had really severe periods when I was in my teen years. No need to feel weird just now getting a pap smear. They are very embarrassing to me and they never feel good. When the tell me to relax in my mind I am going yeah right. Anyway I would use heating pads on the pain area and it helped. I had to just lie around sometimes for a day or two. They were that intense. I don't know what they have out now for pain. I either took the pills made for period pain or Tylenol. I also have uneven legs which offset my ovaries. I started seeing a chiropractor and after a few adjustments the severity actually cleared up. When I couldn't go it started up again. Here's hoping you get some relieve soon. 💕🙏❤️
@Ally95 I can imagine. Hormones are hard sometimes. Have you tried some aloevera or an icepack? Just something to cool the skin down so it hopefully gets the idea it doesn't need to react so harshly?
