How do you all handle bad Mast Cell Flares? Is it ever worth it to go to the emergency room? I am on a 2 week vacation in a different part of the country and have apparently been overloaded with histamine buildup from different environment, water, food, scents, etc. I’ve got a painful, raised, itchy rash on my arms and legs and armpits. I also am dealing with cold-like symptoms, sore throat, congestion, trouble breathing. Additionally I can feel a lot of inflammation in my spine, particularly neck and lower back. Does anyone else deal with these symptoms? How do you manage? I’ve been taking Diphenhydramine and Famotidine for 3+ days and have not seen a decrease in my symptoms. I’m wondering if any of you ever reach a point where OTC meds don’t help and you have to explore other methods such as ER treatment. Thanks in advance 💕

Some people with mast cell activation syndrome struggle with symptoms like food sensitivities, nausea, abdominal pain, and anaphylaxis. They may take medications like Zyrtec, Pepcid, or hydroxyzine to manage their symptoms. However, it's important to consult a medical professional for personalized advice on managing your specific symptoms and determining whether a visit to the emergency room is necessary.
