a therapist I talked to once told me something wise about intrusive thoughts: Imagine them as personal little horror movies. They're designed to scare you, but that's all. they have no bearing on reality and are only a movie. that being said, sometimes when I have an intrusive thought I try to fight it by saying "it's just a movie." maybe it'll help some of you too!

      Interacting with them makes them worse. Acknowledging them is fine but interacting often leads to having them more often
