How to handle people that when you tell them that you are feeling super depressed and super anxious they ask you if you took your medicine today like just because you are taking medicine for this you are not allowed to have normal emotions

Maybe their point was to ask if you have not been taking it. Tho I agree when I was asked by that I felt confronted.

I mean they have to understand there is no magic pill šŸ’Š meds only help so much . The rest is hard work and people nagging doesnā€™t help.

Ugh šŸ˜‘ drives me nuts - sometimes I am not great and forget my meds and if I say I feel off people automatically write it off as that even when this time that I feel off I have been steady taken them. Itā€™s frustrating and hurtful. Hugs . I try and just take it moment to moment remember to breathe and do as often as I can stuff that brings me joy!

I seriously hate when this happens. I understand some people are trying to come from a place of good but the reason I personally hate it is because the only person who ever asks me if I took my meds is my mother. Followed up by telling me she can't stand me when I'm sober, that she wishes she had a normal daughter all the time. I'm here to talk if you need

If they have never experienced depression or anxiety, they will never fully understand! It's a lonely struggle, I got on this site for help, but I think GOD had me find this site because I can help others because I have gone through alot in my 61 years! And I love serving people šŸ˜

@ Leese Yea I just lost a few friends cause of this. If they never experienced it they could never get it internally and they consider the mentally ill crazy so sad šŸ˜¢

That just shows how much they donā€™t understand. If they are receptive you could definitely educate them. Iā€™ve had this happen to me before and it was really awkward because Iā€™m very private about my mental Illness. All that said, you could simply express that sometimes even on your medicine you have good and bad days.

Iā€™d tell them to do some research on mental illness. If they are close enough to you to know you take medication, they can take the time to research how it does and doesnā€™t work.
