Hi my name is Kachiri. I struggle with GAD. I would just like to know any suggestions on how to deal with this. I just started taking medicine for my condition. I really appreciate others input on such a widespread problem.

Hi there. Definitely a couple of the biggest things that have helped me is one talking to people. I used to hold things in a lot but now i spill everything and to anyone that will listen. You will be amazed at home compassionate people are , you will also see how many more people are struggling just the same as you . Writing in a journal is so therapeutic. You get to put your feelings somewhere other than your head, where there is no judgment.

If you don't have a therapist already, I highly recommend getting one. I am able to freely express any of my concerns to my therapist and know that what is said between us stays between us (unless if you're a danger to yourself or others of course). I started off with seeing my therapist 1-2 times a week, then eased to once a week, and eventually on an as needed basis. Lately, I've been going through a lot mentally, so I've been seeing her once a week again. Remember it's okay to need extra help again! When I feel anxious and can't talk to my therapist, I talk it out with my fiancée, listen to music, go for a drive (hard to do now with gas prices on rise, huh?), go for a walk, take a nice bath with a bath bomb or bath soaks, spend time with my animals, or practice some of my favorite hobbies that I know won't cause additional stress, such as swimming.

@Colton99 I am not one to usually make people laugh due to my bland sense of humor, so this brightened my day!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I will try writing in a journal. I feels really good after you let it go.
