I use a lot of PMR, progressive muscle relaxation. When I feel a flashback coming I go straight into PMR. I have a recording of someone I know talking me through it, and it helps calm me down. Sometimes I’ll even let my emotions come out and I’ll cry while doing it but that seems to help too. You can find some PMR videos on YouTube too.

Oh also herbal teas or a nice warm beverage can be soothing. I also enjoy having Italian ice or a popsicle because cold temperatures can activate the Parasympathetic nervous system aka "rest and digest" mode

I enjoy curling up with a cozy blanket, essential oils in a diffuser, having a pet nearby, and listening to calming or uplifting music. Sometimes I just need a nice nap to help reset my nervous system and when I wake up I feel a little better.

Yes definitely. I find breathing techniques helpful as well as grounding techniques. Sometimes it helps to go outside if you can, but if not to look out a window. Sorry you’re suffering, I know it sucks.

Allow your body what it needs. That could be food for energy, a bath for relaxing, a drive for a distraction. Listen to your body and respond kindly.

i try to do things to ground myself and be around people if i can and i feel comfortable doing that .. a lot of what i do involves distracting myself, honestly. journaling, calling someone, or going for a drive are my main coping mechanisms
