Does anyone else have the mindset that cutting is something I need to do in private to keep my public image of a person who is happy/ has their life together? Or that I need to cut to continue my busy life?

My self harm started I think back in November and it started being triggered by trauma or panic attacks and that was what led me to cut. I’m the last two months I’ve been cutting for the “satisfaction” that’s not really the right word but I can’t think of a better one, it’s like an addiction and I’m so sick of being happy and going and cutting out of nowhere.

yes 100%. I always make an effort to appear happy and ok on the outside while I truly am the opposite. It’s something I use just to get through the day sometimes or even just part of my routine. It often can become something that feels very regular and we can’t function without it. That’s definitely relatable and we can do this together!
