Struggling with ADHD and Productivity: How to Stop Doom Scrolling on Social Media

ADHDers, what's something you do to stop yourself from doom scrolling on social media when you have a lot of big scary important things to do that you should be doing instead? I'm really struggling to motivate myself to do the things that need to be done.

You have to literally walk away from the phone/computer. I will take a minute to stop and destress. Usually need a snack. (ADHD uses more brain power = more brain glucose). Then write down with pen and paper what I need to be doing. That way I can start on the absolute smallest piece first. If my depression or ADHD are really bad it may mean literally talking myself through "ok, open MS word" or "just find the enail..."

oh that's helpful! Maybe I will keep a small notepad next to my bed to write on so I can reshift to those tasks

I’m the same boat as you here. I literally spend 95% of my day just doom scrolling. I can’t get myself to work, clean, do errands, literally anything. I’m so exhausted from it but I feel like paralyzed. I need help too. I heard body doubling can help though, I haven’t gotten around to trying it yet 🥲

I don't doom scroll but I do dumb scroll (watching stupid videos of funny stuff). It's less anxiety-inducing but still not very productive.
