i wish mine worked like that :/ mine is basically every day and everything reminds me of it, especially with covid and vaccines being a constant topic. i can't even read the word vaccine without feeling like i'm being restrained in the hospital again. im physically disabled and have daily medical treatments that Also remind me of said trauma, so there's honestly no escape

I have medical based trauma too. It’s very hard sometimes going to doctor. What I have found to help is choosing doctors that don’t look anything like the ones associated with the trauma. Different gender, different ethnicity, different build. Then at the start of some appointments, I just simply say “I have medical trauma and I wouldn’t like to discuss it further but thought you should know.” this way they’re aware and can tailor their approach accordingly.

Look at nature pictures on Pinterest or watch a nature movie. If you can go for a walk, even better Take a deep breath Tell yourself the time, date, and location, and that you're safe for grounding Name one thing in the room Give yourself a massage (if you don't have chronic pain? Listen to music very intently and analyze what you like and dislike Journal your heart out Listen to a hypnosis or affirmations track Write one thing you're grateful for or even just think it Ground yourself by noticing one thing that's changed Set goals Brainstorm all the things you'd like to do if you had a million lifetimes so we can see if any can be incorporated into your life Make a little gift or card for someone Try validating yourself Try asking your mind to do something, like a kind request
