I'm a mum of 2 girls and I've struggled with my mental health since before they were both born. My oldest is 10 and she knows that I have fibromyalgia and chronic pain, she knows no matter what I will do everything I possibly can for her and her sister who is 5. Being a single Mum at 26 is tough but I have close family and friends who help me. I also go for regular counselling for my BPD and for being a domestic abuse survivor. I attended therapy when I was diagnosed with post-natal depression after my last daughter. A good support system in place is a great suggestion and never give up on your dreams of becoming a parent.

@Bluesapphire24 Thanks so much! Prayers! I’m happy for your family and your girls have an awesome mom!
I'm not a mum being a guy but I am a solo dad. Chronic illness does affect your ability to parent but you learn strategies for getting through. Just keep believe in yourself!
@luckylast Thanks! Prayers!

I'm a mother of 3. Aged 1 to 5, yes, it's hard. Especially when diagnosed with BPD and CPTSD, I suffered most of my parent years, I have only just found a decent support system, and it's been helping me, I suggest to get a good healthy support system in place,

Most of the reason I don't want kids is because I don't want to give them any of the three(3!) genetic conditions I'm currently diagnosed with. If I was in a better place financially and mentally I would absolutely adopt.

I also worry about passing any of my stuff down to my kids and if I would even be able to handle a pregnancy. We’ve decided to adopt when the time comes because there seemed like too many things that could go wrong if we tried normally. I would rather take care of a child that needs a home, then create a child that suffers like me.

@foodiegurl11 I completely relate to that. My partner doesn’t want to adopt though. God is with you and your family!

Yes, I have risks to take into consideration first before I even think about having kids, many risks, actually.
@hydroepilepic21 Prayers! Yeah I understand
@Zebrapotato37659 okay..
