Does your medication work for you?

I worry about that too. I'm a mom of 3 also and sometimes it scares me that they are picking up on things from me that I don't like about myself. I have been trying different meds for years and still haven't gotten it right, but all we can do is keep trying and do the best you can with them. Your kids will love you no matter what.

They definitely do! If you can’t take care of you, you can’t take care of other people. Unfortunately my mom went undiagnosed with NPD and OCD my whole childhood and it had a huge negative impact on me but please do not get discouraged! No parent is perfect and that helps kids learn to adapt but please do not ignore yourself so much because you are being a selfless parent that you don’t stay healthy yourself. My aunt got into regular mental heath visits with her doctor and she has been a completely different parent since. I wasn’t sheltered from my parents emotions so I learned to cope with them at a young age but it put a strain on our relationship as I felt like I was parenting them. I still love my parents dearly but I know my childhood would have been much less stressful if they had the help they needed.

I don't have any yet but I am absolutely petrified to have kids for this reason. Too many stories of kids being messed up cause they have a depressed parent who can't control their symptoms.
