Anyone with Crohn's disease and migraines: do you find that CGRP inhibitors tend to set off some of your IBD symptoms? Emgality had a small impact on my IBD symptoms, but due to some insurance issues, my neurologist gave me Nurtec ODT to bridge the gap until I'm able to get my next dose of Emgality. I took a single dose of Nurtec 3 days ago and it really helped my migraine, but the stabbing stomach pain, left-sided abdominal pain, and bleeding/uncontrollable diarrhea has been horrible with no sign of slowing down. I feel like I'm going to have to pick and choose whether I'd prefer to live with flare-up symptoms or migraine symptoms and I'm just frustrated.

I know a side effect of nurtec is stomach pain. Have you tried other preventatives? I'm on nortriptyline for migraine prevention and imitrex for an abortive. I get a little nauseous with the imitrex but at least it helps

@googolplex Thanks for replying! Emgality and Nurtec have been the only preventatives I've tried but I'd be open to trying others since it doesn't seem like these CGRP inhibitors are going to be a good match for me long-term. Which is a shame because Emgality especially seemed to have a big impact on the frequency, intensity, and duration of my migraines. I've used sumatriptan as an abortive in the past, but it didn't help me much. Kinda just delayed the start of my migraines by an hour and made my stomach try to throw up but my body wouldn't let it happen? It was weird. Have you found that nortriptyline helps you?
