Experiencing Severe Side Effects from Migraine Medication

Do you take a migraine medication, and what side effects have you experienced? I want to change mine due to severe side effects but I'm not sure what to ask to try.

sumatriptan, I love it however it is only a brick wall. its stopa the migraine from getting worse. when taken with pain reliever it is the best and quickest relief, on it own it helps my headaches from turning into migraines

Emgality has been a life saver for me!! I still have imitrex for breakthrough but now instead of taking imitrex 3-4 times a week....I may only use it 2 or 3 times a month!

I've had migraines for over a decade. After I saw my neurologist and started taking magnesium-oxide daily, 90% of them went away.

I’ve taken a variety but the only one that’s helped me is aimovig. I haven’t experienced any side effects with it either

I've heard good things about that! And hey, even if it dosen't help, how bad can the side effects be if people use it cosmeticlly?

When it comes to preventives, 0/10, would not reccoment gabapentin or Topamax. Personally they made me feel so out of it I couldn't really function. I don't remember some others I was on for the same reason. Then again, I was rather young so maybe it's all in the dose. I've found help with Aimovig, which brought constipation at first, but the magnesium the neurologist reccomended helped with that as well as the migraines. Of course it's fairly new as far as medications go, and the endocrinologist suspects that could be what triggered my thyroid trouble, but anything that lessens the intensity, if not frequency, is worth it to me. People seem to have luck with other migraine injections too. Ubrelvey works kind of similarly to Aimovig and helps me somewhat as an acute treatment, but I've noticed it depends on what triggers the migraine some days. Bad weather? I don't even bother. Only thing that helps that is an icepack and aleve the night before. I've heard Nurtec can be used to prevent and treat migraines, which is certainly an interesting development.

I just take over the counter excedrin. Honestly I use medical marijuana and it helps so much more

Marijuana makes my anxiety extremely bad and I feel like I need to go to the hospital. I refuse to touch anything like it ever again. Excedrin doesn't do anything for me.
