Struggling with Self-Introduction as a Neurodivergent Person

So true! Have the time I'm like why do you want to know and the other like there is nothing to say

Literally had an essay due for this in English and struggled so hard. I ended up giving definitions like “student, daughter, sister, artist” etc and got docked points for not giving the right info

It's so annoying but I usually just copy whatever other people say. I think neurotypicals prefer basic information instead of the more fun stuff 💀 (like where you're from, if you have a pet, major/career). If you mention more than one hobby without being prompted they don't seem to know how to react

I almost wrote a book on my introduction entry for my math class and I had to tone it back a lot. So I went with why I was taking her class where I was born and what I hoped to achieve after taking the class 🫠 I felt so much pressure 🤧

Oof yes I absolutely feel that. Open ended questions like that were awful for me as a kid especially. Incredibly confusing. From what I understand, the question is actually means something like, “what’s something about you that can be a jumping off point for further conversation”. I’ve ended up making a mental list of my likes and hobbies that I can pull out when people ask me that. It generally seems to work. I usually respond with something like “I’m an artist” or “I like video games”. Then they can ask further questions like “oh, what kind of art do you make?” or “what games do you like?” Stuff like that. I hope that’s helpful

I know, right? I've joined groups that have you fill out an "about me" section, and it's like, what do I even write here?!?!

I always think about this and can never fully answer. I need specifics. I’m like “Do you want my trauma which made me or do you want a basic answer?” I never know what to actually say. Specifics are better for me

Yesss I'm like "what do you wanna know?" I usually just spit random facts like my name, my city, my age, my zodiac sign, and things I like to do in my free time. Hopefully this helps give you an idea!

I just respond, well what would you like to know about me? Which makes it easier for all parties

I can never answer this question. It is too open ended for my brain. But will answer any specific questions you have.
