Self-awareness and Mental Health

was anyone else really self-aware when younger and just knew something was up with your brain, but just didn't know and just went on. and now you are introverted, a love-hate with others that are not "your people", and the amount of care you don't have worrisome at some points? Or am I reading into this just to much?

yea i was extremely shy growing up and was always way too self aware and still am. it's like my body feels too real and i'm pumping blood and it's scary and gross. i actually don't have a lot of care for a lot of different things, maybe not "care" but apathy? is that what you could be feeling? good wishes to you đź’•

Yes! I grew up shy, and wouldn’t talk to people unless spoken to first. Basically forcing me to talk to them. I was a good kid, but people thought I was weird and that’s what made me realize I guess. So I tried to play that weird narrative. I would just tell them “I’m weird” like as a disclaimer. Severe anxiety from trying to be normal. Tried not to do anything that’d be considered weird. Now I have a love hate relationship with people, I’m kinda biased and would much rather surround myself with other neurodivergent people. And after living away from my overbearing mom for two years, I’ve slowly gained so much self awareness, and have been starting to heal.
