Any system alters here? We have communication with all alters, but there's barely an inner world and the alters mostly sleep all the time. It's very low-energy, and it's hard to wake people up even to answer simple questions, and we aren't switching as much as we think we should. Is this a bad sign? What can we do about it?

hi, my system is the same way!! very rarely does anyone else fully come out, its mostly just me. my therapist always tells me that thats a good thing, that it means that im handling things well enough on my own that i dont need the help. i definitely agree with kabdisystem!!

To us your alters sleeping all the time either sounds like a sign they aren't nessecary in your current situation, or it is bad enough to the point they're overwhelmed and incapable of handling it. Switching for us is a skill. We have to practice regularly or it will get continuously harder to do by choice. In the beginning of practicing it was very hard and now we can do it with moderate ease, but neither thing is inherently bad, it's just how your brain and you decide to cope. On waking people up, if you can't do it I reccomend talking to a gate keeper.
