Hi everyone! I mainly downloaded this app to gain some advice - I've been trying to get a diagnosis and potential treatment for whatever is going on in my head. I haven't had anything officially diagnosed yet, but I have been struggling with (what I've labelled as) panic disorder since about 2016, anxiety and depression since 2014 (when I started secondary school) and social anxiety for as long as I can remember. I have also come to realise in the past 3 or 4 years that I may have ADHD or something similar as I have been researching different types and their symptoms - many of which I have been displaying since childhood. I have previously sought help through the NHS, which resulted in me being put on a waiting list for over 8 months, and then recieving 6 sessions of CBT. I didn't really find this helped me at all because I wasn't able to complete most of the tasks I was set, which then made me feel worse. However, my therapist did quiz me before we started and from that told me I most likely had anxiety, depression, social anxiety and panic disorder (we spoke more in depth about this during each session), but I'm not counting this as a diagnosis. Honestly, I'd really like to sort myself out because I'm so tired of shutting myself away, missing opportunities, and watching my friends drift off and go on with their lives.

my advice would be to ask your gp if they could tell you what to do to get a formal diagnosis, if it’s for anxiety/depression i think they may be able to diagnose that although i could be wrong? but either way they’d know what route to send you down to get one

One user shared their experience of waiting 6 months for a diagnosis, but they found it worth the wait. Others have suggested talking to your general practitioner, a psychologist, or a psychiatrist if necessary. It's important to be patient and persistent in seeking help. Some users also recommended researching coping skills related to specific symptoms and disorders you think you might have, as well as focusing on areas of your life where you struggle most.
