This is a long post, so there'll be a TLDR at the end.
I started lomatrigine a couple months ago after being diagnosed with Bipolar 2. Along with the obvious improvements with mania and heavy depression, I've noticed something else.
For years, I've jumped into relationships, most times making it "official" before a real date even happened. These relationships weren't good for me, even when the person was good, the situations I put myself in were damaging to me.
However, after I started taking mood stabilizers, I found myself talking to a person in a romantic way. For the first time since I can remember, I don't feel like I want to jump into dating and haven't completely obsessed over someone who showed me the slightest bit of affection.
Has anyone else had a similar experience to this?
TLDR: Has anyone else found going slow in relationships easier after starting mood stabilizers?
Yes, I have! On lamictal, as well! I don't develop such Aggressive crushes, and my friendships seem more meaningful as well. There's always excitement in a new relationship, platonic or otherwise, that can affect mania, so i think this makes a lot of sense!
