it's just so hard be a male with a mental illness. men are conditioned to hide our feelings, and pretend everything is ok. I just want to say out loud that I'm not ok and be comforted, or hear another male say the same thing.
it’s actually interesting that I saw this post because I was thinking last night about how I’ve been using this app for a bit and I find a lot of men using it (I am a woman) and after some thought I realized that I find so many men here because it’s a safe and anonymous space for them;it’s a true fact that they’re not offered nearly as much support in terms of mental health recovery. apps and little communities like this are essential to give men the voice and opportunities they aren’t given in the typical mental health scene. i hope you find support on here with people who are willing to listen to your situation unconditionally. feel free to dm anytime
Please talk about your issues! I don’t even look at the gender of profiles, usually. It’s nice to woman, sometimes, because we often are more willing/able to discuss our feelings/emotions/issues (not everyone!). I can’t imagine not feeling like I could discuss my problems or mental health issues and symptoms with those around me. I wish more men would talk about how they feel. My older brother started having intense anxiety during the pandemic and the fact that he talked to me about it at length made me love him even more. Vulnerability should be available to anyone, no matter their gender.
