I’ve been struggling to speak up about what i’m struggling with lately. I made a meeting with my mentor to talk to her i almost chickened out because of how nervous and anxious i was. what can i do to work on this?

I definitely think you should be proud of yourself for taking the first step and asking for help. It took me years to really say how I felt. Like some other people have said you can always try writing it out if you have trouble putting it into words. You can even give it to her if you have trouble in the actual meeting. Just remember that you will feel better once you say what you need to say and unless you are planning on hurting yourself none of it will leave the room. Don’t be hard on yourself during the process. Good luck and we are rooting for you!

These meetings are very important. I feel embarrassed to talk about my feeling in front of a stranger, so at the first meeting I stay silent for most of it. Over the time I shared about my going through. I can see it helped me a lot

For me personally it’s easier to send an email/text than face to face. Writing it and just getting your problems out there. Before you send it, you might get nervous whether to send it or not but you just have to take the leap and press send. The person you’re talking to just wants to help and wants to know this stuff. I hope you figure something out that helps you :)

What helps me: Take a couple slow breaths. Write/type out your feelings/ideas; this can be messy. Simplify into a couple “big ideas”. Write a simple note/email to whomever.
