any advice on how to talk to a professional when you don't fully trust them yet and are still very nervous?

      @Sydari This. It’s all a process. Just try to remember they have likely heard everything and won’t judge you.

      (Also I’ve found that having something to fidget with during sessions is helpful to ease nerves)

      This was the hardest part for me too, it’s suuuuper hard for me to open up to others (especially some random person I’ve never met before) but like others have said, these people have truly heard it all and are here to help, focus on the things that are affecting your life the most in the immediate term and it’s 100% true that it becomes easier to talk the more you see them (they’ve been keeping up with your story, it’s literally their job)

      Time. In the meantime I would just answer questions they ask as good as you can. Eventually it gets easier to spill.
