I used to take clonidine and it helped me a lot before I switched to just melatonin. Clonidine has to be prescribed by a doctor though and it also is a blood pressure lower medicine so if you already have low blood pressure do not take it.

That one actually put me to sleep. But my wife forbade it’s use ever again. I was unconscious for two days. Lol

trazodone! it’s a prescription so you would have to talk to your doc about it. it’s technically an antidepressant but it’s also used for the treatment of insomnia.

Luna really worked for me off of Amazon and a fourth of a piece of Unisom but I also highly recommend the deep breathing techniques when you do wake up and a stress homeopathic tablet that I take that really helps go back to sleep because frequent waking is in evitable with this issue. So I immediately take the stress homeopathic tablets that melt under my tongue actually I take a sip of water first and then the stress tabs and then I go potty and then I do the deep breathing techniques. Inhale for seven or eight seconds hold it for five and then slowly exhale for about eight or nine seconds and do this until you start yawning and you should be able to go back to sleep but don’t ever let late hit your eyes etc.

And you need to test yourself after eating a regular carb meal two hours later if it is sky high you may have to go on berberine like I did or stop eating the carbs and just eat potatoes and sweet potatoes and don’t eat other sweets just eat fruit

Sadly no one ever ever talked about blood sugar issues when I was on that group on Facebook and that is the number one thing the doctors and everyone misses especially if you have just slight issues and nocturnal hypoglycemia

The best way to check cortisol is saliva cortisol test with ZRT labs ❤️

And what’s sad is I belong to a hypothyroid and Adrenal group on Facebook for years and really all I ever learned was to heal your liver so this is one thing that you can do you. Should to buy a liver supplement and buy some liver tea do this daily for as long as you can this will also help your sleep improve, I have found that I have nocturnal hypoglycemia so this is why the blood sugar balancing during the day really helps so with my breakfast I have a fourth of a cup of organic natural apple juice and I mix a little water with it and then halfway in between breakfast and lunch I have a piece of fruit. The same goes for in between lunch and dinner, A piece of fruit or a little protein added to it like some organic cottage cheese with some applesauce. Or if you’ve had a really good lunch that included some proteins some potato or sweet potato then you may not need a snack. That’s the other thing, I eat only sweet potatoes and potatoes mostly for starches.

That should’ve said that included eating breakfast first! I did not see where I could edit and correct the message

Thanks Musickel, that’s very interesting! Is there any way you use to check cortisol levels? I have a bg meter so I’ll try monitoring my bg levels.

I had insomnia for five years and what I found was that I needed to balance my blood sugar during the day and not included eating first thing upon waking I have an egg or two and one piece of gluten-free toast I then have my coffee. ! This really helps cortisol not to spike which was what was happening, then learned to balance my blood sugar the entire day, most people don’t even know they have blood sugar issues but with hypothyroidism you really do specially if you had hypothyroidism for a while and you’ve gained weight and have insomnia. I also switched from eating carbs to eating sweet potatoes and potatoes and squashes. I don’t go hungry I make sure I work out lightly and walk daily. I take a sleep supplement from Amazon at night along with a fourth of a piece of Unisom from Walmart and two magnesium

I’ve tried them all. Been using ambien for years but I HATE it. Wish there was something that worked without the side effects. I especially LOVE when someone says, “you should try…” melatonin, yoga, tea, relaxation techniques, yada yada yada…like I’ve just been sitting in a corner like an idiot, not trying everything that exists. LOL

Diphenhydramine!! It's the active sleep agent in most cold medicines, they sell it by itself at Walmart. Works better than melatonin
