How do you know when you’re having a flare? I’m new to this and I can’t differentiate the aches and pains from a flare.

Flare ups are very different from person to person. And sometimes they don't always feel the same or is more/less severe. I feel sensitive to touch, feverish, fatigued, and irritable. My hands and ankles get swollen. heating pad and hot baths have been my solution until I can get more answers for my condions

A flare-up for me usually consists of basically FEELING feverish. Extra achy and fatigue.

That's a great question. I think it may differ from person to person. For me (I have Fibromyalgia, Psoriatic Arthritis and Pudendal Neuralgia) but for me when I experience a flare it begins with my sleep the night before. I won't sleep well ( no particular reason) and I'll wake up and the pain is more intense and more widespread. My hair actually hurts! And I feel more stiff. And I feel exhausted. And my brain is foggy. More than usual. For me that's a fibro flare. Arthritis flare is more joint specific. Again, everyone is different. Hope this helps. Also, my flares last from a day to five days. Feel better. 💜💜💜💜💜💜

@Melady Thank you! I have RA as well and I’m normally in some kind of discomfort on a daily anyway so I’m always trying to brush the pain off. I’m learning to listen to my body. I appreciate your insight

It will typically start on my skin on my legs. They will become super sensitive and I’m unable to tolerate my own touch. Or just my skin in general is hyper sensitive.

@Lcscamille79 Thank you! I’m starting to see a big change in my skin when I’m in a lot more pain. My skin is sensitive to sunlight, touch, even water. It’s a lot to get use to.

@Lcscamille79 oh yes. Forgot about this one. I haven't had a flare in a few weeks. For me there like labor. They're bad but I forget the intensity over time. That's intentional because I understand that pain is received in the brain.
