Struggling with guilt and looking for validation I guess. I’ve got two young school aged children (4&6) and with my anxiety, I struggle to take them to and from their two separate schools every single day. Today is the birthday of my oldest child who passed before they were born. I’m struggling a bit today and decided that I would let my youngest stay home from school again (he was home Friday as well) because aside from anxiety being unbearable, I don’t want to be alone. I’m just feeling very guilty about keeping him home and I feel like I’m projecting and he’s missing out and I just feel like a shit person right now because I can’t handle normal things like taking my kids to school and picking them up without panic attacks. I’ve also got my period so I’m a hormonal mess and I feel dizzy and I am just struggling today. Am I a bad person for all of my choices today?

When u have mental illness one of the hardest things to function with is being a parent and feeling like you’re doing a good job. I always feel guilty for just about everything. You’re not alone. But u weren’t just dealing with anxiety on that day it was pain and trauma. Give yourself a break ❤️

I relate to struggling with day-to-day parenting with anxiety. Of course it doesn't make you a bad person! Do you have help?

You are in no way a bad person, you’re listening to what you personally need to make it through today. It’s OK to need help and it’s definitely OK to spend time with the people you love. If you feel like you’ve taken something from the little one by not sending them to school, make today an educational day. Today you’re teaching your kids that it’s OK to prioritize your mental health so you can be the best mom you can to them.
