is it common for carpal tunnel to make the affected hand swell? I have a prior injury to the hand in question and I'm not sure which is causing the swelling. no pain thankfully just annoying puffiness lol.

It could be either or both. Arthritis from the prior injury could be doing it, carpal tunnel can cause swelling, or a mixture of both issues. I have a prior injury to one wrist and carpal tunnel in both and my ortho said that if the swelling in the one with the prior injury goes down even slightly with ibprophen or aleve then it is 95% Arthritis 5% carpal tunnel.

@katc good to know. Usually it does go down with ibuprofen.
