Does anyone else have a really difficult time accepting compliments in social situations? I get extremely awkward, I guess kinda embarrassed, and overall just feel uncomfortable when someone compliments me, and especially if they compliment me multiple times. The more flattery, the more my awkwardness compounds.

I just don't like anything that has to do with "public".

This happens to me all the time! It’s this inner conflict between wanting to accept the compliment because I know they meant it and want me to, and wanting to reject it because I feel it would be rude in some way to agree like I’m saying I’m better than them or something. But I also feel like it’s rude to refuse cause then you’re saying their judgment is wrong, and it all ends up as this awkward mess. I’ve literally had to just tell people seriously to stop complimenting me cause my awkwardness made them want to reassure me with more compliments. I’m like “it’s really not absorbing and I’m actually getting more anxious bc of my self doubt which you cannot remedy in this moment so please stop…”
