How do you know the difference between a bladder infection, interstitial cystitis, a yeast infection, or bacterial vaginosis? So confusing so I always assume it’s a bladder infection. Sick of going to urgent care every time I feel pain.

Ohh ok thanks so much that makes sense:) The pain during urination seemed to ease up after 1-2 days so I guess it’s not a bladder infection. I do love chamomile too. I’m saving this for the next time I get pain thanks again!!

It can be tricky to differentiate between a bladder infection and IC because they share a lot of the same symptoms. From experience, IC symptoms usually improve after medication (I’m not on meds anymore, I drink camomile tea which does wonders). A bladder infection will get worse or linger on until antibiotics clear it. As far a yeast, usually there will be a white cottage cheese like discharge with associated itching. BV usually has a fishy odor and you can have burning with urination, although discharge can be present as well, but it’s usually thin not thick like a yeast infection. If it helps, they do sell over the counter kits to tell if you have a bladder infection or not. Vagisil as well as a CVS brand has feminine screening kits for yeast infections. They may be helpful in allowing you to rule out one infection over the other, however it is possible to have infections at the same time.
