Oh ,also .. i learned that if you chew sugar free gum for 20 mintues a day it can be as good as brushing your teeth.. although i wouldn't recommend using that 24/7 in place of brushing teeth.

Get a timer and try and brush them twice a day for around two minutes. You dont need to look at yourself doing it if that will help. I know it can be hard to take care of ourselvs but please try. Im not sure how old you are but someone i love is only in their late 20's and stopped brushing their teeth for years because of things like depression and now their in the process of getting top and bottom dentures which is expensive. The more days you do it in a row , the easier it will become.i promise!

I often put of getting ready for bed because it all takes so long to do... ironically making me go to bed MUCH later than if I just got it out the way. Cleaning my teeth being a big part of that, I have invisalign braces too and I have to clean them before putting them back in because I'm a bit germaphobic, so that's an extra 5-10mins! Do you have an electric toothbrush? As I've found that helps so much with the energy side of things, and it cleans better too :) I'm looking into an electric water flosser as that will speed up flossing and make it super easy too

I struggle with this as well! The comments on this post are so helpful! Thank you everyone! š

I used to have this! For me the issue was mostly that I would do it every time I remembered except for when I was too tired etc and honestly the way I did it was just by telling myself that I couldnāt not do it regardless of how tired I was or how late it was. It helps if your morning involves you going into the bathroom and if your toothbrush is out in the open ā maybe carry a small one with you in case you forget? That way you can still build up the habit

do u use an electric toothbrush? i find it easier using an electric (when i donāt avoid charging it lol) also if u canāt brush them til 9pm you canāt brush them til 9pm. theyāre still getting brushed. donāt be so harsh on yourself love ā¤ļø
I have the same problem, by the time I remember I'm already in bed. I think a solution to this would be to keep your tooth brush, toothpaste, and a cup of water beside your bed so you can brush your teeth in bed. I also struggle with the flavour, so I got myself non-flavoured toothpaste and I don't have to worry about not being able to eat after brushing and it's a lot better for my sensory issues.

@earthstar that's what I do, I keep it next to my bed and it makes it so much easier
@earthstar that's such a good idea. I never thought about having it next to your bed. I'm going to try this, thanks!

really the only thing that reliably makes me brush my teeth is having to interact with people, im always anxious about bad breath so whenever i have to go to work or anything like that i never forget to brush my teeth. thats really not something you can use in everyday life tho so here are some other tips ive heard: -brushing teeth in the shower -sticky notes literally everywhere -get someone else to make you do it until you remember yourself

I've had the same issues my whole life. I've tried to get better since I've realized my enamel has irreparable damage. What helped me the most was buying tasty toothpastes I can look forward to using. I have chocolate, watermelon, and mango sorbet toothpaste, all with fluoride, and can pick whichever I'm in the mood for. I also play music while I brush my teeth and try to zone out and let the time pass more quickly.

I stepped up taking about this to my therapist, she recommended brushing them in the early evening to an irregular time - I said "But what if I eat something afterwards?" and she said "Well, at least you brushed them once!" - she was so right...

I feel this for sure one thing that Iāve found helps me bc of sensory issues is to use charcoal toothpaste bc it doesnāt foam
@Wackabab Nvm just read the rest of the thread but something that also helps is if you put something you need everyday like your phone or meds it can help get you into the place and remember that you need to brush your teeth
Phone reminder. Is their any sensory issues around it for you
@PrincessCheese not at all, it's more of finding the energy to go to the bathroom to do it. i've seen people mention that they do it when they go to the toilet and i say to myself i'm going to do that but then i forget

@Frankie04 or sometimes going to the toilet then just can't be motivated at the time even though you're right there ughh
@Frankie04 I write big notes (not little post it notes) round the house to remind todome to do stuff like close the fridge
