brushing my teeth has been pushed back again and I hate it. but even though I hate it I still don't brush them.... any advice on how to still brush your teeth even though you keep putting it on the back burner?

This made me feel so seen. Brushing my teeth is the first thing that goes when I get into a depressive state it takes me forever to pick the habit back up again and my boyfriend doesn’t understand and sometimes makes rude comments about it but he’s just don’t understand :/

sometimes i do it as part of my shower routine, and my roommate suggested looking into teeth wipes as a substitute since i struggle so much with it

I didn’t know other people went through this… I never want to brush my teeth even though I should and it’s not like it hurts or anything I just never feel like it or I forget. This makes me feel a little less alone

Brushing my teeth can get hard because I seem to neglect it when I get in a depressive state and it’s hard to get back into a habit of doing it with my adhd

I’m so glad I’m not the only one 😥 it’s really hard most days. But I’ve been trying. I do a routine where I wash my face, brush my teeth and do my meditations. And i try after I eat cause I hate the feeling of food and stuff on my teeth lol I need to floss though I hats where I struggle. I just hate never smiling because I’m a positive person ): I just get embarrassed but depression is really rough. I’m glad I have a safe space now

I have problems with that as well, and getting up the energy to shower

I just only floss because it's quicker for me and I can do it anywhere; my bed for example lol

I like to watch Netflix on my phone while I do it to distract myself

I’m struggling with this too. I’m trying to make myself do it if I’m using the bathroom and it’s been a day or more since brushing… but I usually make an excuse like I’m planning on eating or drinking soon. I’m trying to tell myself that it’s ok if it’s not the most “efficient” time to brush, and better if I just do it anyway.

I'm trying to AT least use mouth wash. that's my last resort kinda thing if i have to do something or interact w others but can't brush my teeth. I've been trying to make it a habit, like if i don't shower in the morning then I'll put deodorant on & then immediately take my pills. I'm trying to integrate brushing my teeth. we got this !

If you look on Amazon they make toothbrushes with toothpaste already on them! Don't even need to wet it, just start brushing :) I know those have helped me when I have no motivation, or even just swishing with some mouth wash is better than nothing

I have an app called Do! where i can make a checklist of little tasks that seem unbearable, i get the guilt of having stuff to do mixed with satisfaction of checking them off so ill usually add things from my night routine before bed like “drink a bottle of water” “brush teeth” “turn off the lights”. I do the same with getting ready, it really takes the pressure off of having alot to do when you can break it into small rewardable steps :)

No shame in half assing it Though not as good as brushing your teeth, you can always wipe the grime off with a towel or use mouthwash. Its a lot easier for me to do those things than brush my teeth when it gets bad

start with mouth wash. it’ll clear out some of the gunk. then you can work to brushing your teeth, maybe sections or your moth at a time. i usually brush my teeth while i pee in the morning because otherwise i can’t make myself do it

I used to really struggle with it, but I have now successfully made it into a comforting routine that gets me ready for bed. I wish I could tell you how I did it, but I don't know. 🤔 At least I can tell you that it's possible. Try embracing the fact that you don't want to, that it might suck a little, and that you're going to do it anyway.

I’ve struggled with brushing my teeth for a LONG time. I’m still working on it myself, but what I’ve done is remind myself that it literally just takes 1 minute to do, and I feel my teeth with my tongue so I can feel the stuff that’s in my mouth (it’s gross but helps push me to brush my teeth). I’ve also put it on my habit checklist, which helps my perfectionist self want to get full marks each day :)

Well what I do is I put on my head phones and listen to my fave song and I tell myself if I get this done I can do something this helps me so try it if you want
