I am a dental hygienist and I love BURST electric toothbrush and all their toothpastes (my kids love marshmallow flavor the most) You can use my link & it will give you my professional discount. $80+ at Walmart but this link brings it down to $40 and gives you free shipping! 🪥🦷 https://www.burstoralcare.com?coupon_code=XMPHQJ

same. i have had a lot of trouble with brushing my teeth for a looot of my life. it sucks. and it’s also awful how people tell you that you’re gross or whatever and it’s like, it’s not like i don’t want to. it’s that i feel like i can’t. it’s that my brain basically won’t let me. it sucks. i am definitely still trying to figure it out. tasks like brushing teeth and stuff have always been hard for me because they’re like everyday tasks. they never end. it’s awful. i think there’s some value in what some others here have said for sure. it’s not easy by any means. but compromising with yourself is better than nothing. doing something is better than nothing. i’m still trying to fully accept that truth and act like it is true too (which it is). i always try to remember that it’s unfortunately unrealistic to believe that i’ll start brushing my teeth twice a day one day and then do it every day onwards. you might know this already, but i want to emphasize that it’s not all or nothing. you can do this! it’s a process, not a thing that happens one day and then sticks around fully.

It’s a challenge for me, too. I have a habit tracker right next to my bedroom door that I check off every day. If my executive dysfunction is really bad, though, I go to iPhone alarms or the Structured app on my phone. If it’s affordable, go for an electric toothbrush/sonicare toothbrush.

Mouthwash and baby wipes are my best friends during a flare for this reason. Dry shampoo can also be helpful. I also use children’s toothbrushes and toothpaste when it gets really bad because it makes me less nauseous and it’s a less overwhelming flavor

Depending on the person doing something like getting a fun colorful toothbrush or a fun flavored kids toothpaste or maybe an electric toothbrush could make the task exciting enough that its a bit easier?

My best advice is to compromise with yourself, like get a mouthwash that’s antiseptic—not ideal but better than nothing. And baby wipes to clean your face/necessary body parts can be less draining than a full shower. You wont be able to make yourself suddenly capable of the self care routines you’d probably like to implement, but you can get creative in improving your situation.
