The only time I’ve successfully lost weight was using the app Noom. I lost 20 pounds in about 6 months if I remember correctly. It’s kinda pricy though, and honestly you can use free apps and do your own research on nutrition and mindful eating (this one became key for me) and get the same result. For PCOS specifically, I know it’s important to shoot for a low carb, high protein diet. Not TOO low carb though, or you won’t have any energy. I found the most success once I incorporated mindfulness and balance into my diet. Nothing was completely cut out of my diet, I just added in more good stuff and decreased the amount of sugary or over-processed stuff.

Try the free version of Noom as it helped me track, build awareness and be kinder to myself. I recently broke down in tears at my PCP about my weight. I told her, “I’m doing my best…” but I need help! I also had blood work checking for A1C (insulin resistance) as well as my levels for vit B, D & thyroid. Hormones are complicated and under researched. I’m realizing that I need to know myself better (track symptoms, eating patterns, sleep, etc.) because that’s the only way to get help from professionals.

The only time I was happy with my weight was when I took metformin and worked at a warehouse for 5 hours a day and worked out for an hour after shift. As a new mom & fulltime student this whole journey on building me the body I deserve is hard. With the lack of time, childcare it makes things like losing weight very overwhelming. I’m also not willing to get back on metformin because of how sick it would make me. I’d be squirting from both ends all day, everything I ate tasted weird, which resulted me falling back into denial that I had developed an eating disorder due to the major lack of interest I had for food because of how miserable the metformin made me. Soo I told my doctor as the tears rolled down my face a rather be fat then miserable. & my only suggestion would be low-intensity cardio, weight lifting, yoga , up water intake and try low sugar low carb things.
Honestly it’s tricky, for me at least I don’t keep record of what I eat cause it discourages me I just try to eat small portions & drinks tons of water no sugar and less carbs
