I don't have or haven't been diagnosed, people tell me I should look into it, I've lost count how many jobs I've had in the last year alone, I get so frustrated because they could be the best job I ever had and then I take too many sick days and slowly get agoraphobia. I would love a job where it's just one maybe two things and it's all repetition, something simple and easy, that why I created my own small online store to try and help, but it's not doing too well.

I feel that, most of my jobs only last 2-3 months. It makes me feel like I'm no good at anything šŸ˜„

@Cats5 my sister struggles with this feeling a lot. Everyone has things they are good at, I hope you find something that appreciates your gifts šŸ’•

@astia I have worked some jobs that want to keep me indefinitely but they are usually the types of jobs that struggle to find any applicants. Like my current job would probably keep me forever if I wanted to stay but I don't want to be stuck in a dead end low paying job forever

Thinking of future jobs is always a struggle but they're are alternative job types out there! Some jobs can include changing tasks every 10 minutes to work on a different project and others you can do freelance with your own set of timeslots

I've been fired or let go from every job I've ever had for being innovative or bypassing the bureaucracy bs. Not sure if it's an adhd thing to want things to be more efficient and getting frustrated when they are unnecessarily complicated or incompatible with my brain.

Yes absolutely! I keep thinking "I wanna be a hairdresser! Wait No! I wanna be a vet nurse! Wait NO! I want to make music! Wait No! I don't know what I want!". My career path changes every 24 hours lmaooo. But I've kind of just told myself that I can be everything! Why can't I learn to be a hairdresser if I want to? It doesn't mean I have to find a job as a hairdresser but if I want to, I can. I was a bartender last year, but this year I work in aged care (food services). I find it so hard to keep a job for more than 3 years because I just get bored and wish I was doing something else. It's ok to not know your "life long passion" as long as you are happy and healthy and make enough money to get through daily life, it doesn't matter what you do :) Idk if this helps at all but hope you find your way x

Yeah very much so. I am the sort of person who has at least 4 things on the go at once. I can't watch tv without doing other things at the same time. Movies are a no go completely. When I did work I did a job that was very active and demanding (medication competent aged care worker) which was the only way I functioned - I needed the constant demand to function however it is what ultimately caused me to have a breakdown and quit. So yeah work is a no go.

@Mariex this really helps to know thank you. I get the tv and movies thing... subtitles are on permanently. I tried a demanding job once too, it was so constant and repetitive. I pushed it too much and had a meltdown during a shift. I tried medication too but the comedown at night was awful for me.

@ikigali subtitles are always on at my house. My son hates it. If I watch anything with him he is always trying to turn them off. He is 25 and the most understanding young man but there are still somethings he doesn't get. Repetitive stuff bores me to tears which makes things really hard yet at the same time I hate change which can make things really impossible. I've tried medication. I have an antidepressant and mood stabiliser but they do nothing for the ADHD. My thoughts never stop even when I sleep. I'm not allowed benzodiazepine meds though due to prior abuse and I haven't really found anything that stops my head or allows me to concentrate and function at a "normal" level.

Yes, many people with ADHD struggle with finding and keeping work due to difficulties in maintaining attention and focus. One person mentioned that they get hyperfixations and find it distracting, while another shared their experience of feeling like a bad employee due to their ADHD. It is important to seek workplace accommodations for these disabilities to make it easier to perform your job effectively.
