My Dr doesn't seem to want to take me off 20mg Lexapro, but I don't feel it is working anymore. I've been on 20mg since January 2021. What else would be a stronger medication, like, a step up from Lexapro? Thanks :)

Hey, I don’t think a “stronger” drug would be the answer. Different types of ssri drugs work differently on different people. I started a treatment with Prozac and then moved to lexapro which has been better for me. It doesn’t necessarily mean lexapro is “stronger” than Prozac.

You might not need something more " powerful" necessary. But a different class of drug could be useful. It is also common to augment or add on a medication to the Lexapro if it isn't fully working. There are tons of medications for anxiety and depression, and it's not like there is just one thing that will work forever. I have found that depending on life circumstances, I need to adjust with my doctor as I go :)

i’ve been on lexapro for a few years now and i also felt like it wasn’t working. i had to wait till i was 18 to see a psychiatrist but now that i have i’m on both wellbutrin and lexapro and i would like to say it’s working! try looking into a psychiatrist or really standing your ground with your doctor! also if you keep a log of your symptoms and everything you’re doing each day, maybe you can show them that it’s not working so they’ll understand :)
