My girlfriend just got sent to an inpatient psychiatric hospital so now I can’t speak with her. She was the only support system I had. I feel so alone. I’ve been having panic attacks for days and I’ve never been more suicidal. Anyone ever been to an inpatient psychiatric hospital and can explain their experiences? I think I need to go to one but my parents keep telling me I’m being over dramatic and don’t know what it’s like. I have no support system for my mental health. College and work feel like too much right now. I don’t know what to do. Any suggestions?

I think that if you need to go to one please go, don’t let people gaslight you into thinking you don’t. If you need help, get it. I know how that feels and it is terribly distressing, it’s going to be okay. Take a deep breath, it’s only for a short time and you will recover. Your feelings are valid and you aren’t being over dramatic, please admit yourself if you need to. Be safe, be kind to yourself. Don’t give up, it’s not your time love. Your girlfriend will need you when she gets out.

Your college with should have a mental health screening service or someone that you can confidentiality speak with. If you're not sure how to access those resources, send me a DM.

I would research them before goinf to one. Because there are also certain legal issues for differrnt things when it comes to psychiatric hospitals. Find out what your HIPPA rights are before you do this and get a power of attorney and make sure that's it's so eone you would trust 100% Otherwise, Iwould not do it.

Writing down or creating a voice memo of what you would normally say to her could help. Knowing you will see her again once she is better is also something to hold on for. If you can’t be there for yourself being there for her could be a good alternative until things change. Good luck
