Can anyone tell me how to get through a tough medication adjustment with even a shred of grace or patience? I'm not at all sure my head is still attached to my body. I've been here before, but how long does this particular one last?

@AnimalBoy oh, that's interesting. I will definitely mention it, and now that you mention it, I've been sleeping better since taking it

I'm on gabapentin specifically for the high/dizzy/giddiness since it was prescribed for insomnia. The things that usually interfere with the medication for me are eating and if I can focus on one thing long enough I can ignore the symptoms until it's over which is usually about 3 or 4 hours. If I push through it I generally develop a tolerance within a couple of weeks and need my dose increased but you should still mention it to your health provider in case they can adjust it.

My dose increased just last week from 600mg to 900mg 3 times a day

@Trip1967 are you taking it for pain?

@Trip1967 how does it feel taking 900mgs at a time? Does it help with anxiety??? I’m on 800mgs/3x daily and I’m really anxious still, I’ve been thinking about asking to increase it and see if that will help. Thoughts?

Oh, you’re on Gabapentin? Personally, the giggles lasted about a few days for me then I became regularly adjusted. But when I first took I’d laid on my kitchen floor laughing my ass off before I really realized it was the gabapentin doing it. But now I’m on 800mgs 3x a day everyday and I feel sooo much better and less anxious on it. If you have any questions or anything at all feel free to message me! 💕

@CSweet94 oh my gosh, that sounds intense and strange as far as side effects go, but....actually possibly kinda fun? Speaking as someone who's coming out of a depressive episode. I appreciate your openness and may take you up on that!

@loveshespoke I take Gabapentin to help me taper off the high doses of Xanax my old psychiatrist from KS had me on. Now I’m still anxious but I’m on 3mgs on Xanax a day versus 8mgs like they’d originally had me on for years. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Kansas psychiatrists think if you’re sedated at least you’re not crazy...they are negligent and absolutely asinine.

Maybe you’re experiencing the floaty dizziness that accompanies it? Try asking for a lower dose or make sure you eat and let your body adjust. Sometimes it takes a week.

@Elise_Laura It seems as if it's starting to fade and today was day 5? Day 6? It's just helpful to know it's an adjustment for other people

5-7 hours, you'll start to feel it dulling after 3, what have you been experiencing with it? I just started mine 3 weeks ago, but I stopped because I put myself through a panic attack, it made my whole lower half feel numb and the private areas warm like I was going,

@HeavenMyway it just gets me pretty insanely high, which I don't enjoy. And spacey. I have a pretty hard time communicating without sounding like an idiot.
