Struggling to Keep Up in School After TBI

I had to delay my high school graduation by a year due to my TBI from a car crash spring of junior year. I also took a gap year before starting college because I am a musician and a couldn’t play for a long time following my TBI. Now in college I’ve taken a semester off and changed my major, and so will be graduating a year later than I had initially planned. While I was homeschooled through high school and don’t have as much practical advice on that front, I just want to say that it’s ok if you need more time somewhere. Everyone has their own path and life altering injuries play a huge part of that. Don’t let anyone else tell you what you “should” be doing, but take the past that feels best for you and your health, even if it takes more time than people think is standard

Hello! I got my TBI before I went into 8th grade … you should look into getting a 504 if you don’t have one. it is like an IEP for medical conditions.

I’m very sorry! I feel for you, I have a TBI because of a motorcycle accident in ‘14. I’m definitely getting better in the head but am paralyzed on the right side of my body. Used to be a commercial pilot and miss it a ton everyday, so I’m really hoping that by the time I’m 35 Lord granting I’ll be able to get back to it. What was your injury from?
