i’ve been suspecting ocd for years but finally talked to a counselor about it. i’m trying to decide whether i should get tested for ocd since i think it could be helpful to validate and maybe give future insurance for any work or school related issues, but i also worry that i might be “faking” my ocd symptoms somehow. is this a common feeling with ocd? i feel like my ocd traits come and go throughout the year in their severity and type, is this typical?

From reading what people have said on NOCD's community, doubting OCD itself seems somewhat common, it's called meta-OCD but of course I am not a professional, just some brief insight
I'm not sure how normal it is for OCD traits to come and go but personally mine do. Often they get worse when I'm stressed and sometimes it calms right down and I almost feel normal. Sometimes when I've explained to people my experiences with OCD in the past I almost always feel like they think I'm lying or faking it
