Hey guys. I wanted to make a post about some of my recent ocd symptoms just to reach out to see who else is having them and what to do about them. No reassurance please I just want to know what I can do to challenge these thoughts. Recently I’ve been having thoughts about reality. Things like « you are the only real person »,  « everything is fake and made up », «  what if *enter anything I saw* doesn’t exist anymore and reality is changing », and etc. What do you guys think? I don’t believe any of it so I doubt it’s an issue of any other disorder or anything but I worry about that too. Thoughts? Thanks!

@teelay personally what I’ve learned through all my research in this disorder is that if you let the thoughts be there so the wave of anxiety comes you can get over the fear by exposure. Just don’t overthink Aka ruminate. Just let your brain be anxious until it finds something else to worry over

intrusive thoughts, ayy! even though it's not as frequent as it used to be, i think about those things as well. it's definitely something common among people suffering from ocd and intrusive thoughts, so just know that you're not alone at all! honestly, i keep avoiding the thoughts whenever they pop up in my mind. i immediately try to shift my focus on something else. i don't know how healthy it is, but for me, it's much better than overthinking until i start sweating.

I’ve gotten into a habit of intrusive thinking that I live in a simulation and nothing is real, so it doesn’t matter what I do. I get terrified when I start thinking those things, so I just reassure myself, I’m most likely not, and even if I was, it doesn’t matter! I try and forcefully push those thoughts aside and move on. The best thing I learned is to not give it attention and it gets easier to move on from. Hope this helps and good luck!

@anna.owo yep it sucks haha. I think it’s best to just let them be there and not push them away so you can feel the anxiety until it goes away. That’s what’s helped me get over my fears. Thanks!

I haven’t had experiences like that exactly, but it can be hard for me to discern between what’s real and what what’s not sometimes. If a situation is stressful or foreign, it’s really easy for me to want to decide that it isn’t real, even though it evidently is. Me too, sort of.
